TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Muhammad Iskandar, vice president of fuel marketing retail division at PT Pertamina (Persero), estimated jet fuel consumption will increase by eight to 20 percent nearing and during this year's Eid el Fitr celebration.
"The consumption hike will result from the increased number of flights during Eid," he told Tempo yesterday.
To meet the rising demand, Pertamina has provided 307,000 kiloliters of jet fuel. The stock is expected to be enough to serve regular and additional flights for 27 days from Ramadan to Eid.
One of the provinces that receive additional jet fuel quota is Central Java. Subagjo Hari Moeljanto, general manager of Pertamina's Marketing Operation Regional IV, said that jet fuel is distributed evenly in three airports: Ahmad Yani (Semarang), Adisumarmo (Surakarta), and Adisucipto (Yogyakarta). To ensure a smooth supply distribution, Pertamina had increased the frequency of its aviation delivery trips.
