TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned diversified miner PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) announced that it would more open new outlets in three cities: Medan, Batam, and Yogyakarta.

The cities were chosen based on the average income level there and cultural and lifestyle factors.

"We have a data of every buyer and their place of origin,” said PT Antam Operational Director, Tedy Badrujaman, to journalists, Friday, July 18, 2014.

Several cities are considered to hold great potentials as their residents have quite a high income on average.

Other factors include culture and lifestyle.

"Several regions use gold in their traditional ceremonies, while people in certain regions tend to love wearing gold jewelry in their daily live,” Tedy added.

Antam currently has nine gold outlets in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Makasar, Semarang, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Palembang, and two outlets in Surabaya.

Tedy added that gold remains one of the most attractive commodities for investment.

He also said Antam gold outlet is one of the gold outlets with the best quality and the trading process in the outlet can be done in just 10 minutes.

Tedy further said that on average, every Antam gold outlet can sell 25 kilogram of gold per month.

"Last year, our outlets even managed to sell a total of 9.3 tons of gold,” Tedy added.

This year, Antam eyes the selling of 13.6 tons of gold, or a 6-percent increase from last year’s selling, which was recorded at 9.3 ton.
