TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Eva Kusuma Sundari, a member of the Jokowi-Kalla presidential ticket’s election team, has called on the pair’s supporters to refrain from staging massive convoys on the streets after the General Elections Commission (KPU) announces its presidential vote tally tomorrow, Tuesday, July 22, 2014. She said this was to prevent a possible clash with supporters from rival Prabowo Subianto’s camp.
“So there should not be any massive parade on the streets,” Eva told Tempo on Monday, July 21, 2014. She said celebrations should be held at volunteer posts.
Eva also appealed to Jokowi-Kalla supporters not to come to the KPU headquarters during or after the vote count process. Prabowo’s supporters, on the other hand, planned on going to the KPU office on Tuesday.
“It’s up to you how many volunteers that you want to celebrate with, as long as you don’t celebrate on the streets,” Eva said.
Earlier, the Jokowi-Kalla’s election team chief Tjahjo Kumolo also asked supporters not to take to the streets for celebrations if the ticket was announced as the victor of the presidential race. He also barred volunteers and supporters to come to the KPU building to keep the situation conducive.
