TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto is still optimistic that he will win the presidential election. The official result of presidential election will be announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
“I’m stil optimistic that I win,” said Prabowo on Sunday. He urged the KPU to hold a re-election because he found irregularities in some regions.
Prabowo mentioned Jakarta and East Java as the regions indicated to have irregularities. He declared he would contest the election result to the Constitutional Court if the KPU still announced the result without investigation. “We’re just obeying the law.”
Prabowo denied that young politician from the National Mandate Party as well as the son of Amien Rais, Hanari Rais, has admitted the defeat of Prabowo and Hatta Rajasa against Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla. Mahfud Md. head of Prabowo-Hatta campaign team, echoed Prabowo’s statement.
“When? What time?” said Prabowo. He said he just held a meeting with Amien Rais and Mahfud Md and no statement has been said on losing to Jokowi-JK. “It’s not like that.”
Prabowo previously urged the KPU stop vote counting after alleged irregularities reported by his legal team to the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu). “We are just demanding what has been guaranteed by the law,” said Prabowo on Sunday.
Based on vote recapitulation by the KPU, Jokowi-JK triumph on 23 provinces while Prabowo-Hatta only win in 10 provinces.
