TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The assistant coach of the England national football team and Manchester United’s legend Gary Neville was awarded honorary doctorate by the University of Salford for his work in promoting the importance of sustainability in the sports and property development industries. The honor completes his title collections from the Premier League (eight titles), FA Cup (three titles), and two champion titles in the Champions League.
The Salford Business School awarded the honor for Neville's interests in sustainable business design of his own homes, which led to him starting a design practice (Zerum) in 2005, and his founding of the Sustainability in Sport foundation. Recently, he joined other Man United Class of '92' alumni Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and brother Phil Neville in the establishment of Hotel Football, a development next to Old Trafford.
"I’m very pleased to receive an honorary degree from the University of Salford," Neville said as quoted by Daily Mail. "I’ve had a strong affiliation with Salford ever since I joined Manchester United as a youth player in 1991 and I’m delighted to be involved more closely with the city’s community through Salford City FC and now as an honorary graduate at the University."
