TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Joko “Jokowi” Widodo-Jusuf “JK” Kalla pair has won the presidential election in East Java.
“Jokowi-JK pair gained 11,669,313 votes while Prabowo-Hatta gained 10,277,088 votes,” Eko Sasmito, the General Election Commission (KPU) chief for East Java said during the vote recapitulation meeting at Hotel Equator Surabaya on Saturday Night, July 19, 2014.
Eko explained that Jokowi-JK owned 24 out of 38 cities and regencies in East Java. Meanwhile Prabowo-Hatta was dominant in 14 regencies and cities in the province.
Jokowi-JK’s coalition team and supporters celebrated the victory at the KPU after the announcement. Didik Prasetyono, one of members of Jokowi-JK campaign team and the coordinator of Media Center for East Java, said the recapitulation results from the KPU were similar to their real count.
“Our real count is more accurate and valid,” he told Tempo.
