KPU: Security is not our concern

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the General Election Commission (KPU) Husni Kamil Malik, said that KPU is focusing on finishing the recapitulation in time on July 22. As for security details, KPU will leave the issue to the police.

He said that KPU is fine with groups of people wanting to help secure the complex. Asril Centre, a group that consists of Prabowo-Hatta supporters, said that it will mobilize 5,000 volunteers on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, yet denying the move as a form of intervention towards KPU. "That [security] is not our concern, as long as they do not bother us," said Husni.

Previously, a number of Prabowo-Hatta supporters have decided to help secure the KPU complex on Tuesday, July 22. Husni said that such activity will not disturb their focus, which is recapitulating the votes "unless, [the supporters] want to interfere [with KPU]."
