TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Four airlines in Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang: Lion Air, Sriwijaya, Kall Star and Trigana have requested extra flights. "Each airline requested two to eight extra flights, making a total of 16 additional [flights]," Ahmad Yani Airport Angkasa Pura I General Manager Priyo Jatmiko said yesterday.
The extra flights comprise of Lion Air with eight extra flights, Sriwijaya two extra flights, Kall Star four extra flights and Trigana two extra flights. These extra flights will be added from July 24 to 28 while Ahmad Yani Airport manager said more additional time slots are still welcomed. "There are already 16 additional flights that have been turned into slot times, but we’re still open for more extra flights," said Priyo.
Those extra flights will not disturb airport operating hours which start from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Extra flights operating other than the operational hours are also possible.
Homecoming flow in Ahmad Yani Airport is predicted to occur two days before Eid day and homecomers using airplanes in Semarang are predicted to increase by 10 to 15 percent compared to 2013. "Homecoming flow peaked at 6,500 people a day last year. The number will increase this year as there are extra flights," said Priyo.
Due to those predictions, PT Angkasa Pura I will increase security and comfort for passengers in Ahmad Yani Airport during homecoming flow this year by preparing posts five days before and after Eid.
