TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Edy Mulyadi, Head of the Tabligh and Dakwah Council at the Jakarta Muballigh Corps, reported The Jakarta Post to the Indonesian Police Headquarter over blasphemy for including an arabic wording in a caricature of ISIS in one of their publication.
Edy said that an apology from the Jakarta Post's Editor-in-chief will not suffice, therefore the action must be brought before the penal court. "We would like provide a deterrent effect, so that the media can be more careful in the future," said Edy.
Edy added that the report was made independently, without recommendation or provocation from a particular party. He said that the caricature on ISIS published by The Jakarta Post has brought tension among Moslems.
"The sentence 'laa ilaaha illallah' belongs to all Muslims across the globe. If you want to criticize ISIS, put the name ISIS," said Edy.
