TEMPO.CO, Dubai - As one of the biggest and richest city in United Arab Emirates, Dubai is planning on building the biggest shopping center in the world. The shopping center, named the 'Mall of the World' will include Entertainment Park and hotel.
"The project will be built in phases in alignment with the gradual growth of family tourism in Dubai," said Mohammed Abdullah al-Gergawi, chairman of Dubai Holding [DUBAH.UL] , who is entrusted with the project by the head of the UEA states, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, as quoted by Reuters, Saturday, July 5.
The plan, launched 18 months ago, has triggered strong growth in Dubai’s stock market. The project is believed to be supporting Dubai economy sector.
The 'Mall of The World' complex will be built on an area of 7.4 kilometer square. In addition to the world’s biggest mall, the complex will have amusement park, movie theater, medical tourism facility, 100 hotels, and an apartment with 20,000 rooms.
The 'Mall of The World' is predicted to absorb 180 million visitors annually.
So far, however, the Dubai official has yet to release the detailed plan of the budget, the financial source and the project completion time.
