TEMPO.CO, Rio de Janeiro – Argentine supporters have started to pack Rio de Janeiro’s Terreirao Samba after celebrating the victory of their national team against the Netherlands in the World Cup semi final.
Terreirao Samba, a large ground usually used for live music performances, is only a few kilometers away from the Maracan Stadium.
The number of Argentine supporters that will be giving support to their team is predicted to peak at the end of the week. At least 100,000 people are estimated to come in droves to Rio de Janeiro.
The influx is certainly good news for the country’s tourism department. Brazil’s tourism secretary Claudio Magnavita said the people of Brazil would give a warm welcome for the Argentines.
Rio de Janeiro’s Tourism Department is most certainly happy with their presence, which definitely spells larger income to the city. Some 50,000 people have arrived in the city in the last three days, channeling billions of rupiahs to the city’s coffer.
