TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting director Djayadi Hanan said the victory of Jokowi-JK was helped by Jusuf Kalla’s persona in South Sulawesi where Jokowi won a landslide victory with 70.3 percent. South Sulawesi has been the basis of Golkar Party. "JK is very rooted here," said Djayadi yesterday.

Another key of Jokowi's victory is the support from celebrities with the concert held during quiet period at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta. According to Djayadi, based on exit poll, around 11 percent of new voters determined their choice during July 4-9. The Two Fingers concert was deemed to have given positive effects on Jokowi’s electability. "These undecided voters eventually cast their vote to Jokowi," Djayadi said.

Indonesian Survey Circle researcher Ardian Sopa said the key factor of Jokowi’s win is the volunteers’ efforts to go from house to house in the last 20 days. He gave example on the tight competition in East Java where key figures such as Muhaimin Iskandar and Khofifah Indah Parawansa in Jokowi's team and Mahfud Md and Soekarwo in Prabowo's team played a role. In the end, the key of Jokowi’s success is the volunteers' ability of going to voters' houses.

On the other hand, Prabowo’s success in West Java and Banten was caused by Sundanese voters. Prabowo won in West Java with 59.80 percent while in Banten 58.73 percent. Ardian said Jokowi was first perceived to have supports from Javanese people. "That’s why, Sundanese voters shifted their votes to other figure," said Ardian.

Another key of Prabowo's victory in West Java was due to solidity of the Golkar Party and the Justice Prosperous Party (PKS) and supports from West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan and Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil.
