TEMPO.CO, London - The 2014 Wimbledon final is set to host the 35th encounter between Grand Slam mainstay Roger Federer and the top-seeded Novak Djokovic later today. Statistic says that Federer lead the head-to-head record 18-16 but Djokovic has won 10 of the previous 15 meetings.
Djokovic dispatched Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6, in a tough match, Friday, while Federer comes into the final after defeating Milos Raonic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
The Serb told BBC that the most important strategy against the Swiss is by unallowing him to dictate the game.
"The key against him in the game is trying to not allow him to dictate too much because he likes to be very aggressive; he likes to come to the net. I'm going to have to be able to get as many returns back in the court and try to also stay closer to the line, protect the baseline," said Djokovic.
Meanwhile, Federer - looking to grab his eighth title this year - said to be watching out for Djokovic’s solid movements.
"His forehand, his serve, his movement is what stands out the most at this moment now. He's really been able to improve that and make it rock solid. It's really important to stay aggressive against him."
The 32-year-old who championed the tournament back in 2011 will reclaim the world’s No 1 title from reigning Rafael Nadal if he managed to win the final today.
