TEMPO.CO, Semarang -Chairman of the National Democratic Party of Struggle Megawati Soekarnoputri, said that she never ordered any attacks during the presidential election campaign period. Mega's statement came as a response of an attack towards TVOne on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.
"During my time as the chairman, I have never instructed any attack. Back in July 27, 1996, we were the ones being attacked," said Mega.
Mega also asked the media to educate people instead of provoking them. She also said that the government should be responsible in securing the presidential election, given the rising number of smear campaign.
"This black campaign is not person-by-person. Clearly it derives from an organization," Megawati said. "We have the Obor Rakyat case, but the police did not take assertive moves despite having clear evidence of a violation."
