TEMPO.CO, Bogota - Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos has won his second term of presidency after defeating Oscar Ivan Zuluaga in an election. With over 98 percent votes counted on Sunday, the centre-right politician Santos led over economist Zuluaga with 50.8 percent to 45.1 percent of votes.

Foreign media correspondents in Colombia have said that the voting was dramatic, as Santos won only with a slight margin.

Moreover, Zuluaga had won the first round of election on May 2014. In his speech, Zuluaga said that he can accept the defeat but will carry on fighting for a better Colombia.

On the other hand, Santos' victory may present an opportunity for a peace talk with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels, which hoped to end the five decades of war in the country. The conflict between FARC and the government itself has killed more than 200,000 people and forced millions to flee from their homes.
