TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno-Hatta airport police have arrested AW, 39, and KEN, 39, at Gajah Mada Plaza, Jakarta, yesterday for having robbed a bag of Brunei Darussalam's Deputy Ambassador, Ahmad Nasri Abdulalh Latif, 41, in February.
The airport police’s criminal unit chief, Comr. Dhany Aryanda, said the pursuit had been conducted since Nasri’s report to the police four months ago.
"After we made the arrest, we took them to their apartment in Kemayoran, where we found proof of the victim’s bag," said Comr. Dhany.
The two criminls have even travelled overseas with destinations of Thailand and Hong Kong. "Based on the officers’ investigation, both men were identified in Batam and Bangkok. We once lost tracks and traced them again when they returned to Jakarta."
AW and KEN had stolen 2,030 Brunei dollars [Rp200 million] and one Samsung Galaxy Note 8. In their confession to the police, they were surprised to gain so much money and used it to travel overseas.
