TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo, will not play for Portugal national football team in the friendly match against Greece at Estadio Nacional today, as reported by Daily Mail. Coach Paulo Bento said the Los Blancos top scorer missed training yesterday and complained about muscular pain on his left thigh.
"He will be with us, but he will not compete," Bento said as quoted by Sky Sports. "The physical well-being and health of the player is our main concern and we will not set a time limit for the return to competition."
Ronaldo arrived at the Portugal training camp in Obidos on Thursday along with Pepe and Fabio Coentrao. The Portugal Football Federation said Ronaldo was unable to attend the training session due to the pain on his left thigh. Ronaldo has to undergo a special recovery program together with Raul Meireles, Hugo Almeida, Ruben Amorim, and Joao Moutinho.
