TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cadbury Indonesia has ensured that none of its products in Indonesia contains pig fat. The statement came after Cadbury Malaysia had withdrawn two chocolate products namely Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond as the two contain porcine or pig fat.
"We do not import the two variants," said Cadbury's official Rahma. "Hazelnut and Roast Almond are only available in Malaysia."
As for Cadbury products in Indonesia, she claimed that all products have been granted halal certification by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). Although, she confirmed that Cadbury products in Indonesia were also produced in Malaysia. "JAKIM, Malaysian Halal Certificate Agency, has also granted halal certification," she said.
Regardless, Director of the Food, Drugs, and Cosmetics Assessment Institute (LPPOM) at MUI Lukmanul Hakim, has asked the society to keep an eye on Malaysian-made Cadbury products. Lukmanul claimed that there were suppliers that distributed the products in Indonesia. Therefore, he suggested consumers to take a good look at the products.
