TEMPO.CO, New York - Google has replaced Apple as the world’s most valuable brand with an estimated value of US$158.8 billion (around Rp1,827 trillion) compared to Apple with US$147.8 billion (around Rp1,700 trillion), according to Millward Brown’s annual BrandZ study.
The study, released yesterday, has IBM in third place, followed by Microsoft, McDonald’s, CocaCola, Visa, AT&T, Marlboro and the online giant, Amazon, rounding up the top ten.
Facebook fell drastically, bumping 10 places and it now sits at number 21, while Samsung was up one place to number 29.
An interesting new addition to the list is LinkedIn, whose brand value is estimated at US$12.4 billion, taking the 78th place.
Overall, Millward Brown estimated the total value of the 100 most important brands in the world at US$2.9 trillion.
Millward Brown uses data gathered through 150,000 interviews from consumers all around the world to determine these numbers.
