TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prabowo Subianto, chairman of the advisory board of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), signed a coalition agreement with six parties on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.
The agreement signing was witnessed by Functional Group Party's (Golkar) chairman Aburizal Bakrie, Gerindra's deputy chairman Fadli Zon, and National Mandate Party's politician Zulkifli Hasan. The signing was scheduled to take place at the Museum Proklamasi but was canceled due to regulation constraint.
Golkar, along with the United Development Party (PPP), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Prosperity and Justice Party (PKS), and the Crescent Star Party (PBB), officially endorsed Prabowo Subianto to run for the presidency in the upcoming election. The coalition collected 48.9 percent of votes and 52.1 seats in the parliament.
