TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency will try out a new TransJakarta route serving Pulogadung to Ujung Menteng today. TransJakarta management authority head Pargaulan Butarbutar said that all infrastructure, including shelters for passengers, are ready for use.
“We have prepared the buses and the drivers,” Pargaulan told Tempo on Sunday, May 18, 2014.
To serve the route, TransJakarta will operate five new single-deckers, each is able to carry up to 85 passengers from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. The company said it would opearate more buses should the number of passenger increase.
There are eight shelters along the route, including at Pulogadung Terminal, Raya Bekasi, Cakung, Pulogebang and in Ujung Menteng. To reach the locations along the route, passengers have to make a transit stop at Pulogadung Terminal and take a bus that serves the Pulogadung-Ujung Menteng route. Pargaulan said that Transjakarta is striving for establishing a route that can reach Bekasi.
“The plan is to establish a route to Harapan Indah Bekasi. But we need to adjust it so it won’t disrupt other public transporations,” Pargaulan said.
