TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sri Hartini, Principal of 09 Makassar Pagi Primary School, East Jakarta, has been officially dismissed from her position yesterday.
Her dismissal served as a sanction for the case of violence which led to the death of one of her student, Renggo Kadapi, 11.
Renggo was allegedly beaten to death by his senior, SY, 12, after the deceased accidentally dropped SY’s banana ice.
"Ibu Sri has received the dismissal letter and already signed it at around 10 a.m.," said the head of Primary Education Section of Makassar Sub-district, Supriyadi to Tempo.
Right after Sri’s dismissal, the East Jakarta Education Agency appointed the principal of 08 Makassar Pagi Primary School, Daryanti, as an acting principal, while Sri herself would be posted as a teacher at Kebon Pala 11 Pagi Primary School.
The submission of the dismissal letter was attended by the head of East Jakarta Primary School Sub Division, Nasrudin, and a supervisor of the Education Affairs of Makassar Sub-district, Nana Suparna.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo instructed the Jakarta Education Agency to dismiss Sri Hartini as she was considered negligent. The principal must be responsible for Renggo’s death, said Jokowi.
"We must impose a severe sanction, which is by dismissing her [the school principal]," said the governor at Renggo’s house, Tuesday, May 6.
Renggo died on May 4 after being treated at Polri Kramat Jati Hospital.
