TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The partner of presidential candidate Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is scheduled to be declared by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) tomorrow. Until yesterday, the party's leaders who had been requested to confirm on Jokowi's running mate on the upcoming presidential election stated there had yet to be any decision on the matter.
A number of names have been mentioned to become Jokowi's partner, among others are the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chief, Abraham Samad, and the former vice president Jusuf Kalla. "Even I haven't been informed on who's going to be Jokowi's partner," said Tjahjo Kumolo, PDI-P secretary-general.
On other occasion, the National Democratic Party (NasDem) secretary-general, Rio Capella, was also unable to confirm Abraham Samad to be Jokowi's partner on the election.
"Jusuf Kalla and Abraham Samad's names are popular. But, the confirmation will only be announced at Teuku Umar (Megawati's house), Monday," he said when contacted by Tempo yesterday.
The Nasdem party is the first one to form a coalition with the PDI-P, followed by the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).
