TEMPO.CO, Lampung – State-owned gas company, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara, said that the Lampung floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) will start receiving LNG supply in early July. Gas from the terminal will be distributed to the industrial sector, amounting to 7.5 million cubic feet per day (mmscfd) in volume.
"Based on our experience, the market will grow by itself along with infrastructure readiness," PGN's vice president for strategic business, Anthony Aris, said when visiting the Lampung FSRU last weekend.
The company spokesman, Rida Ababil, said that the operation of Lampung FSRU will increase gas distribution volume to the energy, industry, households, SMEs, and transportation sectors in Lampung. "LNG is in eastern Indonesia, which was exported, can be maximized for gas distribution in the western region—where reserves are running low," he said on the same occasion.
Lampung FSRU has an LNG tank capacity of 170,000 cubic meters, with a maximum regasification ability of 240 mmscfd. Later, the FSRU will deliver gas to Lampung and West Java.
PGN had spent US$250 million to invest in Lampung FSRU, which is Indonesia's second FSRU. The investment takes form in renting a ship owned by Hoegh,Korea, for a period of 25 years.
