TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta Immigration Office chief, Maryoto Sumadi, said 26 Jakarta International School (JIS) teachers would undergo investigation after their residency and working permits were found to be unsuitable to the Immigration and Employment Law.
"There are 26 names to be investigated," said Maryoto yesterday. The names found are the results of the verification of 282 documents checked by the Immigration during a visit to JIS on April 22.
On the first day of investigation, Wednesday, the Immigration had questioned JIS Elementary School head, Paul Marshal Buckley, Australian national, and his deputy, Csaba Zoltan Koltai, American, regarding their immigration documents.
The other 24 names would be summoned for the same investigation. It is possible that Immigration will probe the other 26 JIS teachers. "It’s not final yet and may change as the investigation goes on," said Maryoto.
The investigation is to check whether the teachers have valid documents from the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration and the Ministry of Education to work and live in Indonesia.
The result of investigation on Buckley and Koltai will then be submitted to both ministries. "The verification process will take at least one week," said Maryoto.
