TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Airlines have been reluctant to relocate their flights from Soekarno-Hatta Aiport to Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, with Citilink being the only airline operating at the latter.
Other airlines committed to relocating their operations at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, such as Garuda, Air Asia and Lion Air, have stalled their plans.
“They said it wouldn’t be cost-effective because they have to support operations at both airports,” Air Transportation director general Herry Bakti said on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.
Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport has been prepared to accommodate 74 flights, with16 of them being operated by Citilink. No confirmation has been made by other airlines about the relocation of their flights. National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has even scrapped its proposal to operate 10 flights at Halim Airport.
“They said they are having troubles in arranging the aircraft schedules,” Herry said.
