TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Boediono said he would directly monitor two infrastructure projects in East Java, the constructions of Teluk Lamong port and Juanda Airport's Terminal 2. "To ensure and monitor these projects, so they could finish on time," he said, after visiting Terminal 2 of Juanda Airport, Surabaya, on Saturday, April 26.
During his visit to Juanda's Terminal 2, he monitored a number of facilities that are already operating and some that are still in its stage of completion. According to Boediono, there should be reviews so that existing facilities would not be soon neglected, as the number of passengers started to increase in a short period of time.
Before he visited Juanda's Terminal 2, he also monitored the development of Teluk Lamong terminal that is an expansion of Tanjung Perak port. The terminal could later curb logistics costs that are still expensive. "This is what makes our products not competitive," he said.
State-run port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III CEO, Djarwo Surjanto, said that the terminal is scheduled to fully operate in September, 2014. The trial for its services will be carried out in June.
