TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta International School (JIS) head, Tim Carr, said the school fully trusts its teachers and staff since tight selection is always done for teachers and staff to work at JIS.
"We did a background check from the data they submitted during interview," Carr told reporters yesterday.
JIS also contacted the institution where the prospective teachers previously worked at to ensure their credibility. "We checked all elements. That’s why we believe in the quality of our teachers and staff," Carr said.
The JIS head said to have no idea about the FBI fugitive who 'hid' at JIS until he received an information from an international school in Caracas, Venezuela.
That is where they found out that William James Vahey who used to work there for 10 years was an FBI fugitive. "We have also contacted FBI and confirmed that he had worked here before," he said. The chase for Vahey was stopped in March 21, 2014 after the suspect committed suicide.
