TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Students in Bandung, West Java went to the Babakan Siliwangi urban forest in commemorating the Earth Day. Students from primary to secondary school, also kindergarten, had their lesson on environment while interacting to the nature.
"Upon commemorating this year's Earth Day, we would like to introduce Babakan Siliwangi urban forest to the students," said Earth Hour Bandung Coordinator Christian. He said that some of the students have not yet understood the main function of urban forest as the city's lung and water absorbency area. "Babakan Siliwangi can be an informal study venue for the students. They learn in the nature, learning what is inside the forest," he said.
The event involved several educative activities, teaching students to protect and preserve the environment. A teacher from Sholahuddin kindergarten Ai Yulianti, stated that the school of nature is beneficial for the students, teaching them about courage, intelligence, and environment.
