TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - The East Java government cooperates with the Indonesian National Standard in Jakarta to prepare for small medium industrial products standardization. East Java Governor, Soekarwo, said not all industrial and imported products in East Java have national standards despite a good 13-percent growth in small and medium industries every year.
"Not all products have national standards, including the imported ones," said Soekarwo yesterday.
Product standardization is the main focus of the government to prepare for Asean Economic Community and Asean Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) in 2015. The standardization consists of packaging and product content, which includes halal labeling and product transparency.
The East Java provincial government will also design programs to become a motor for East Indonesia. East Java must cooperate actively with other provinces to map trade industry so that they can exchange information.
Thus, in his development plan later, Soekarwo wants to provide education and training on entrepreneurship for the government to undertake business to business and also government to business as well as one on one business meeting. "This is our colossal work," he said.
