TEMPO.CO, Jember - The Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) has bested the Democratic Party in Jember Legislative Council this year, said Hanan Kukuh Ratmono, Commissioner of the Jember General Election Commission (KPU).
Based on vote recapitulation data of the KPU in Jember, Gerindra has gained the majority of seats in the Jember Legislative Council with nine seats, followed by the National Awakening Party (PKB) with eight seats, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) with seven seats, the Prosperity and Justice Party (PKS) with six seats, and the Functional Group Party (Golkar) and the National Democratic Party with five seats each.
The Democrat Party, which gained the majority of seats in the council five years ago, had only managed to gained three seats, as well as the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).
"The rest of the seats are taken by the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the United Development Party (PPP) with two seats each," Hanan said.
