TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said that the e-budgeting system could reduce potential double budget. "We set e-budgeting in such a way that everything is locked," said Ahok on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
Ahok said that the system will improve efficiency in examining every budget item. "We cannot force 60,000 budget items to be checked every night," he said. "I did that in my first year and it was a failure."
E-budgeting can even cross out unneeded items or double budget. "Not locked, but deleted, because it isn't needed," Ahok said.
Previously, overlapping activities had resulted in a Rp700 billion excess budget in the Jakarta Education Agency. Ahok said that kind of problem often happens.
"It has been a common occurrence since several years ago, but it's okay. It can be turned into non-disbursed funds (SILPA)," he said.
