US Ambassador Meets with Balikpapan Mayor

TEMPO.CO, Balikpapan - US Ambassador to Indonesia Robert O. Blake, Jr. together with a number of multinational companies’ top men visited Balikpapan, East Kalimantan on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
In a meeting with Balikpapan Mayor Rizal Effendy, Blake called on US-based companies to create synergy with local businessmen. “They can cooperate in Balikpapan or East Kalimantan in general,” Blake said.
Among the multinational corporations accompanying Blake were Caterpillar Asia, Chevron Indonesia, Emerson Indonesia, and Honeywell.
Some of the companies have long been operating in Balikpapan, such as Chevron Indonesia Company, which owns a lavish office complex in Pasir Ridge, Balikpapan.
According to Blake, the results of the talks would be followed-up by each party through concrete measures. After meeting with the mayor, the ambassador’s entourage was headed to the Al-Mujahidin Islamic Boarding School on Jl. Soekarno-Hatta Kilometer 10, Karang Joang Village, North Balikpapan District.
