TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dozens of South Jakarta Immigration Office officials visit Jakarta International School (JIS) on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Head of the South Jakarta Immigration Office Maryoto, said that his subordinates visited the school to evaluate some documents related to residence permit of the schools' foreign teaching staff.
"We would like to cross-check the teachers' residence permit with our data," Maryoto told Tempo on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
The immigration officers were welcomed by three staff of the school: a man named Hasanuddin, an Indonesian female and an foreign female staff.
The school's administration staff submitted all documents required by the immigration officials. Maryoto said the visit was related to the sexual harassment case that occurred at the school.
According to Maryoto, the Immigration Office would like to anticipate citizenship issues that may complicate the case.
"Our main business is to check the foreign nationals' residence permit to prevent irregularities," Maryoto said.
