TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance and Development Controller (BPKP) Chairman Mardiasmo, said that his institution has been asked by the Finance Ministry to review the social aid funds in ministerial institutions.
"The Corruption Eradication Commission [KPK] said that there are a lot of problems related to this political year. If possible, the fund's disbursement should be postponed," Mardiasmo said on Monday, April 21, 2014.
Mardiasmo said that the request was related to a letter sent by the KPK to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) regarding social aid fund disbursement that was prone to problems. A cabinet meeting held by President SBY has decided to ask the BPKP, the Finance Ministry and the Home Affairs Ministry to clarify the letter. The Finance Ministry later sent a letter to BPKP to review the social aid budget in the ministry.
Mardiasmo said the Finance Ministry specifically asked his institution to review social aid funds for non-mandatory programs. He explained that a meeting with the KPK has been scheduled on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, to discuss a review of social aid funds in ministries or institutions.
"We will work with the KPK to clarify the criteria [of social aid disbursement]," he said.
