TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In addition to being a director, Ine Febriyanti, who is also an Indonesian actress and a writer, appeared in a monologue performance called Dramatique Reading: Cut Nyak Dien, giving a new perspective in acting.
Ine's performance as Cut Nyak Dien showed not only her struggle for Indonesia’s independence, but also her womanhood.
According to Ine, many do not know of this national heroine's other stories, such as when her husband was killed by colonialists. "And also her role as mother for her children and how she rekindled the spirit to fight against invaders," said Ine on Sunday.
Ine said that Cut Nyak Dien's strong character motivated herself to perform the story of the Aceh heroine in her monologue that was not only entertaining, but also able to give historical lessons about national struggle to the young generation.
Through the 40-minute play, Sha Ine Febriyanti revived the character of Cut Nyak Dien, who gained the status of National Heroine for her struggle in the Aceh War.
