TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three state-owned banks and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). The MoU provides BPK with access to Jakarta regional government's accounts in the three banks.
Jokowi said yesterday that the MoU signing was part of preventive measures taken to avoid irregularities and violations in budget management.
"Therefore, each transaction can be monitored and audited," Jokowi said.
Based on the agreement, BPK can access each transaction made by the Jakarta regional government in three state-owned banks: Bank Mandiri, BNI and BRI. The BPK can also track the government financial. The system can also trace financial transactions and is expected to promote transparency and accountability of the government's financial management.
