TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - The Bekasi city government has allocated a fund of Rp10 billion from the 2014 Regional budget to procure official cars for all the district and sub-district heads in the region, said Head of Regional Asset and Financial Management Agency Head, Yayan Yuliana.
For 12 district heads, Daihatsu Terios cars will be provided by the government and for 56 sub-district heads, the government will provide Daihatsu Xenia cars.
Yayan said the former official cars, Suzuki Carry, for district heads and Daihatsu Terios for sub-district heads will be used as operational cars for district and sub-district head secretaries. "The secretaries have previously used motorcycles."
In total, the government will buy 78 cars. The 68 units are allocated for district and sub-district heads and the remaining 10 will be placed at the Bekasi Mayor Office as operational cars.
"The cars are also for other purposes. They were lent out, not given," said Yayan.
Once the cars are handed over, they become the responsibility of each users and if any problems occured, it’s their responsibility to have them fixed.
The purchase of the cars is still at the processing stage. The city government would also buy 10 garbage trucks. "Five of the garbage trucks will be used in the markets, while the other five will be used by the Sanitary Agency," said Yayan.
