TEMPO.CO, Gaza - Arab League foreign ministers have renewed their commitment to give US$100 million or around Rp1.12 trillion to the government of Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency, as reported by Al Jazeera, the ministers have also urged Arab states to come up with the money as soon as possible.
The pledge, made on Wednesday in Cairo, came hours after Israel announced a suspension on high-level relations with Palestine in retaliation for signing international conventions.
Under the interim deals, Israel collects and transfers money to the Palestinian Authority some US$100 million a year from taxes on goods imported into Palestine. Israel has repeatedly frozen payment due to high tensions between both sides.
