TEMPO.CO, Pyongyang - Eleven high-ranking North Korean officials, including a former security chief, have been burned alive by flamethrower. A South Korean newspaper reported that the executions were part of the second purge following that of Kim Jong Un’s uncle, Jang Song-Thaek.
A source told The Chosen Ilbo that an additional 100 lower-ranking Workers Party officials were executed, while a third round of purges will target regional supporters of Kim’s powerful uncle.
Other reports mentioned that North Korea was planning to execute 200 high-ranking officials loyal to Jang, and about a thousand family members might be interred in concentration camps.
Jang’s older sister and her husband, Jon Yong Jin, who was North Korea’s ambassador to Cuba, and their son-in-law were among those who were executed on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Deputy minister of public security O Sang Hon was also executed by flamethrower. He was accused of protecting Jang.
Jang was executed after being convicted of a traitor and anti-party, counter-revolutionary factional acts. Meanwhile, Kim called Jang as trash who was even lower than a dog.
