TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta administration will facilitate a meeting between PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN) as the manager of the industrial area in Marunda, North Jakarta, and Foxconn Technology Group to settle an issue of stake ownership requested by KBN. North Jakarta Mayor Heru Budi Hartono said the request was understandable since the land in the bonded zone would be given to Foxconn.
Mayor Heru said the percentage of stake ownership requested by KBN is yet unclear. But the ownership could be 20 percent at the maximum, plus the land cannot be given for free.
If Foxconn refused to cooperate with KBN, the provincial government would interfere. Heru explained that the government’s involvement is to oversee the companies' activities. The government would act as liaison for public’s interest to address issues, such as minimum wage raise.
"Whenever a problem occurs, we will communicate it with the customs office, Pelindo and the governor," said Mayor Heru.
