Tontowi/Liliyana Reach 2014 India Open Superseries Semifinal

TEMPO.CO, New Delhi - Indonesia’s best mixed-double players Tontowi Ahmad/ Liliyana Natsir becomes the only representative for Indonesia in the 2014 India Open Superseries title hunt. Tontowi/Liliyana marches to the semifinal today after defeating world number 43, Mads Pieler Kolding/Kamilla Rytter Juhl 21-15, 21-9 in New Delhi, yesterday.
In semifinal today, the second seeded Tontowi/Liliyana is going to face the fourth seeded Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na of South Korea who had defeated Malaysian Chan Peng Soon/Lai Pei Jing. The Indonesian shuttlers have been championing the tournament for three consecutive times and are aiming to defend the title this year.
"We don’t want to be overexcited," said Tontowi in an e-mail to Tempo, yesterday. "We focus on our opponents one by one, whoever our opponents are. Tomorrow we have to be ready and focused."
Today’s semifinal battle is going to be the third time for both doubles to meet head-to-head. In their two previous matches, Tontowi/Liliyana led by 2-0. Tontowi/Liliyana thrashed Ko/Kim in semifinal match of All England tournament last month.
