Malabar train with Bandung-Malang route derailed into a ravine due to a landslide in Tasikmalaya, East Java, ANTARA/Adeng Bustomi

TEMPO.CO, Tasikmalaya - West Java Police chief Insp. Gen. M. Iriawan has requested state-owned railway company, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) to map out areas prone to landslides along the railway in West Java.

"We have asked them to map out areas that are prone to landslides from Banjar to Ciganea, Purwakarta," he said after visiting the location of Malabar train accident, earlier today.

The mapping is needed considering the areas in West Java are hilly. "There are many mountains in West Java," said Gen. M. Iriawan.

Transportation Ministry railway traffic director, Hanggoro Budi Wiryawan, has not been able to mention areas prone to landslides, since they are changeful.

Hanggoro urges the people to immediately give information should there be a landslide along the railway or the possibility of collapsing.
