TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), said that the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has cancelled the tsunami early warning for all Indonesia's regions. Based on an observation on sea level in Papua, BMKG said that the warning ends on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 08:30 AM Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
"People can go back to their normal activities," said Sutopo on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
The warning was originally announced yesterday, when several erathquakes were detected to occur in and around Indonesian waters.
Previously, thousands of Sumberagung village residents in Banyuwangi, left their houses following a tsunami warning announced on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 6:00 PM.
