Hundreds of Flight Cancelled During Nyepi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator company Angkasa Pura I, said that 400 flights, including 152 international flights, scheduled to depart from Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali on Monday, March 31, 2014, has been cancelled in respect for the Hindu religious day of silence, Nyepi.
"[The airport] will be closed from Monday, March 31, 2014, at 06:00 WITA (Indonesian Central Time) to 06.00 WITA the next day," he told Tempo. The closure is in accordance with national and regional law and regulation.
Angkasa Pura I had worked with the Air Navigation Agency (NOTAM) to notify airlines worlwide not to schedule flights to and from Bali during the celebration of Nyepi. However, the airport will remain available for emergency landings.
