TEMPO.CO, Amsterdam - The Netherland have announced Guus Hiddink and Danny Blind to replace Louis van Gaal as coaches for the Netherland's national soccer team, Reuters reported. Hiddink is appointed to coach the team after 2014 World Cup in Brazil under two-year contract and Danny Blind will replace Hiddink after the 2016 European Cup.
"With Guus Hiddink, we have appointed a Dutch trainer with a treasure of international experience and success. Danny Blind will get two years to grow further under him," Dutch football association (KNVB) team director Bert van Oostveen said in a statement, as reported by Reuters.
Guus Hiddink had previously coached the Netherlands back in 1994 to 1998 when the team qualified for the World Cup semifinal in France.
"It is for me personally also a thrill to work with my own successor and in this way the football vision in the Netherlands can be guaranteed for the long term," said the 67-year-old coach.
Danny Blind will be an assistant to Hiddink together with Ajax Amsterdam's former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy before he takes Hiddink’s place in 2016.
