TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Brazilian ex-footballer Romario advised Neymar to learn from Lionel Messi in leaving his problems behind him when on the pitch.
Neymar has recently come under media spotlight after Barcelona ex-president Sandro Rosell was found out to have falsified the amount of Neymar’s transfer fee from Santos to Barcelona in summer 2013. Barcelona reportedly paid 95 million euros to buy Neymar from Santos. The payment is three million euros higher than transfer price announced by Rosell.
Romario said Neymar should be learning from Messi. “Every player has good and bad periods. The advice I would give him is to show a good attitude and leave his problems off the pitch,” said Romario.
“He is playing alongside one of the best players in the world and he can learn from him. I was the Messi of my day and players used to like learning from me!” Romario added.
Neymar’s performance has degraded since the case came up. The 22-year-old striker has not scored any goal in the last five matches with Barcelona.
