Tax Increase may Boost Used Car Sales

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The increase of Luxurious Goods Tax (PPnBM) from 75 to 125 percent is believed to boost used luxury car sales. According to a member of luxury car community Dream Club Indonesia Wahyu Dewanto, the increase can also help benefit car owners planning to sell their vehicles.
Wahyu added that the increase was quite significant that a new Lamborghini sport car can costs up to Rp 15 billion. Lamborghini owners are likely to be tempted to sell their cars.
"They can even get Rp 2 to 3 billion profit," he said.
However, he said that the increase on PPnBM will affect new car sales from all dealers. "The odds are future buyers will think twice before purchasing [a luxury car]," he said, suggesting that the price might have jumped to an unreasonable level.
