TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is scheduled to officially launch the revitalization of Kota Tua (Old Town) at Pos Indonesia Building in Tamansari, North Jakarta this afternoon. Chief Executive Officer (COO) of PT Pembangunan Kota Tua Jakarta, Lin Che Wei, said a number of conservation projects will be launched onsite.

"The projects include information center and Fatahillah Gallery at Gedung Pos," Che Wei told Tempo yesterday.

PT Pembangunan Kota Tua will also conserve a number of buildings, including Asuransi Jasindo, Jasa Raharja, Pastra Adimina and a cafe. The revitalization of the buildings will be financed by the respective State-owned companies. "The budget had been prepared, but we are not allowed to mention the number," Che Wei said.

Chei Wei added, a a consortium and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II will sign a cooperation contract to conserve Sunda Kelapa Port.

The event, started from 5 to 9 p.m., will feature 'Fatahillah Food Festival' serving 40 types of traditional dishes with Laksmi Pamuntjak as the curator.

"The food will not be free but they are affordable (priced)," Che Wei said.

The COO explained that the concept of the revitalization focuses on art and culture, education, lifestyle, business events, exhibition and creative industry. Jakarta Tourism Agency head Arie Budiman is confident Kota Tua will be much better under the consortium's management.
