TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's men's single badminton player Dyonisius Hayom Rumbaka was defeated in the second round of the 2014 All England Open, by South Korean’s Son Wan Ho, 16-21, 21-14, 10-21, Thursday. Hayom’s defeat in the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, England, has left Indonesia with no representative for the men's single in the tournament.
"It was a balance game initially. But in the last points, the opponent’s defense was so tight," said Hayom as quoted by Badmintonindonesia.org.
Hayom ruled in the second game but was unable to anticipate Son’s playing pattern in the decider and let the South Korean won 10-21. Other Indonesia's men’s single players, Tommy Sugiarto and Sony Dwi Kuncoro had been ousted from the tournament earlier in the first round after losing to China's Huan Gao and Wang Zhengming.
Indonesia's only hopes now lie on the hands of the double players. Men’s doubles Muhammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan have reached the last eight round and mixed doubles Tontowi Ahmad/Lilyana Natsir, has reached the quarter final.
